Interview with MAGNETIC SPACEMEN
Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:
Get as much attention as possible, so we can do more shows abroad of NL in the future. Magnetic Spacemen is a high energy garagerockband with a high energy liveshow. Expect a combination of garagerock, wet surfpunk and melodic and grainy rock & roll.
Writing a few phrases about the guys from Magnetic Spacemen, you can pull all cliches about a young, fresh garage/punkrock band out of the closet. But that doesnt matter here. These gents are an example for several starting bands when it comes to their enthousiasm and stageperformance. Frontman Sam Pols has the potential to grow out to a high-profile frontman.
He has the guts and a good head for punk and makes people laugh and have fun.
Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?
It had to grow and evolve while playing together. First we were a trio and now we are a 4-piece band. These songs are the first songs written in the new band formation.
How does your writing process normally work out?
We just go in the rehearsal studio and than i (Sam) come up with some ideas for new songs about things that makes my head a mess.. haha (mostly)
What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?
The sky is the limit!
What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?
Bands like Fidlar, Together Pangea (USA), Thee oh sees, METZ, the oldschool garage rock bands, to name a few
What’s next for you?
Make a new (full-lenght) album and tour a lot more!
