Interview with Fatum Aeternum

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

Our latest release is an EP called “Mass Suicide of Human Race”. Its concept is to tell a little story: the first track is an introduction (the title song), the second track is an instrumental composition, presenting a technique of ruling the world which is been successfully exploited nowadays. The tracks 3-4 are pretty self-explanatory (Pollution and WAR), which all leads us to the final destination – Cemetery (track 5). But since there’s always and gleam of hope – the last track is “The morning after”, stating that “There’s an end to every night”.

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

The sound is a never-ending process and throughout the years we went from medieval/renaissance oriented music, to dark metal, gothic rock and with bits of electronic music in-between. So the course is always forward and change is life.

How does your writing process normally work out?

It different for each song. Some turns up from first version, some have few incarnations. All songs are written by Steve with active participation of Evelyn.

What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?

Never give up 🙂

What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?

The list is quite elaborate, here are some (not too obvious at times): Doors, Type O Negative, Tom Waits, Primus, Roxette, Aqua, Army of Lovers. The most important impact the influences has on our life and subsequently on our music are their vibe and mood.

What’s next for you?

Just to keep creating music and be happy.
