Interview with Duirvir

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

We approached this new release with great emotion because we got the possibility to improve the audio quality. This is the first release with more concrete ideas and in our opinion you can find and feel this. Our music wants to let you feel some “sick but need” (and genuine) emotions, the most present in our work is the solitude of death, that have countless faces and you can find 3 of them there.
Of course the music around these things wants to evoke this feels with some quiet and relaxing parts and more extreme riffs biting and cutting your soul.

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

The band was born with other intentions and only 2 members but…a lot of time is passed from that and is normal to evolve and become more professional.
Actually, anyway, we discussed it a lot and we’re trying to put together some very different influences, trying to stay original and create something the people can think is “surprising and efficent”.

How does your writing process normally work out?

Actually me and Marjan (Guitar/Vox member) are writing alone the arrangement and the first rudimentals parts of the songs recording it, than we discuss with the other members (what works, what not) and here is where the songs takes is first concrete form.
Habitually we think about an emotion or a scene with a context and we start to put it into the notes.

What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?

We want to reach as many people as possible and if only that can be possible we want to talk with them and ask what they feel listening our music, what is great and why they like or hate it.
Anyway…We love festivals and we’ve already played in Metaldays (ex-Metalcamp) in Slovenia, other experiences like that would be great!

What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?

The project actually wants to stay original but is impossible for every artist to avoid to put his memories so….yes, we’re putting our “childhood experiences” too.
Personally i’m in love (and I think they can be coherent for the project) with Opeth and Swallow the Sun and you can find something of them into our music. On the other side Marjan is putting all his black influences and some inspiration from bands like Agalloch, Enslaved…you can clearly listen them.

What’s next for you?

We focus now on a Full-Lenght. Nothing can stop us, so 100% new music will be released. The great thing of art (music in these case) is the malleability: we make the music for the sake of music, if possible we want that our music is both what we want and what the people want. We dream, and is great do it.
