Interview with Embrional

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

During compose our third full lenght album EVIL DEAD our main concept was to develope classic death metal style with some more sophisticated riffs. However we didn’t want to overdo with technical skills. In our opinion better is to compose some few riffs which will cut your neck, instead puting million of riffs without the soul. We think that fans can expect darkned death metal with several unpredictible changes and interesting rythyms, served in good quality! Our goal during composing and recording session was provide better album than The Devil Inside and I think we did it! Second thing was to take a risk and release newest album by ourself without any labels. In our opinion it is the best way to get freedom as a composers as well as get fair funds from our fans (by buying album/merch) and use it for recording new stuff. We are not big band with huge label behind, however we believe that this step will push us further…

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

Embrional band and the music which we compose still evolve, and this process will never stop. If you compare our first records to the newest album, for sure you will hear differences. Today Embrional music is much more mature. Structures of the songs are more interesting and thought out. Our songs are not base just on blast drums. Often we play with rythym, changing tempos. Sometimes our music demand from listener focusing, otherwise they probably skip lots of details hidden inside 🙂

How does your writing process normally work out?

Song writing process evelope with us as well. In the beggining of Embrional we brought riffs to our rehalsal room and working on it. This process was very good for us, when the line up of the band come from the same town.Unfortunately meanwhile the line up of the band has to be changed, due to healthy and personal issues. Currently we have to compose at home using some tools (f.i. guitar pro), mainly becouse each member of Embrional band lives in different city, so travelling even twice a month for rehalsal is almost not possible. However, I prepare some riffs and record them in my home studio. Sometimes it’s hundreds of riffs, which later on are selected, to finally become part of the song. When I stick riffs together, then I send it to my drummer and rest of band members. We arrange meeting in rehalsal room and play together . Sometimes we changing something during improvisation. At the end we get well composed song. Thats it.

What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?

Generally we focus on music and we get big fun from it. This is our passion and we havn’t pressure for spectacular careerier. Generally Embrional should develop itself without toxic pressure. We love composing process and constantly develop it. This is main reason why we playing death metal. I thing that current main aim for Embrional is achieving good result of seling our new album, promote it, play gigs and compose/ record next album in better condition.

What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?

Personally I listen different kind of music, not only metal. Of course I love old stuff from 90’s and it’s hear in our songs, however I love classic music as well (especially piano) and this is my main inspiration. Harmony and rythym. Huge impact for Embrional music and future develop of it had my education of music rules. I love exercise book Zegalski for the side drum. I’m not a drummer, but this instrument always fascinating me. These all rythym exercises allow me to uderstand how good music should work . There is milion of possibilities to arrange good song. It’s challenging, but after breaking this border you become much better musician.

What’s next for you?

This year we are going to issue split with Czech Brutally Deceased in the beginning of spring 2019. Already we have ready material for this split and now we waiting for front cover. Probally we will arange some tour through the Europe with Brutally Deceased and play some gigs on summer festivals, but it’s not fix yet. For sure we will continue our sick path toward next album. Meanwhile we’ll focus on promotion our newest album EVIL DEAD. We have no label behind and whole hard work fall on us.
