Interview with Lazy Bonez

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

The main “concept” was to continue and follow the demarcated path of our two previous albums (VOL.1 in 2013 and ALIVE in 2015).
There were no major goals to change any specific style or anything else in our music.
Well, there’s one thing…. but it was not an acknowledged selection – compared to our previous album the average tempo of the songs has increased ten beats per minute in this new album.

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

We formed the band in 2012. The sound came in a combination of what we all had in mind and what we all represented and underlined as musicians. The main elements were: melodiousness, AOR, 80’s, heavy and metal. There are also some nuances that we have picked up from other genres too during our history.

How does your writing process normally work out?

Simplified in summary – our guitar-players make the frame of the song, then I add the melody and lyrics to the song (I sing the demo-vocals). If we think that the song is good enough then we send it to other band-members. And if they like the song too then we record Tommi’s vocals and Topi’s drums to the song. And so we find out how it sounds as a whole Lazy Bonez song.

What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?

All of us in our band have a full time job, that enable this music project called Lazy Bonez. I can tell you that it’s not a goldmine to make albums and play heavy-metal nowadays. So, we have to be very realistic that what we want to achieve. But, surely we are looking forward to gigs both in Finland and abroad too. And we also want to gain & reach new fans to Lazy Bonez – that why we are doing this thing in general – to fans who like our music!

What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?

As I earlier explained, the roots of our music are in AOR oriented bands, mainly in 80’s era. There are so many bands that has influenced to our music, but we do not want to sound consciously like any specific band. We all have our roots and favorites in music. It’s up to everyone who listen to our music that what do we sound like and what influences from other bands we might have.

What’s next for you?

We will have gigs during the whole year 2019.
