Interview with INNER SHRINE

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

The concept is about heroes and what makes an average person a hero. Our main goal is always to offer the audience a special musical experience that helps to transmit the message of our lyrics. Is always up to the audience to extrapolate the message and to understand personally what we want to share.

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

We started back in 1994 as an average death metal band, but in 1995 we shifted to our personal sound, a mix between classical music, death and black metal with a soprano singer. Sounds common nowadays but not back in ‘95.

How does your writing process normally work out?

It changed a lot during the years. Now Luca is the main songwriter and I write the lyrics and play the bass.

What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?

We come from a different world (late ‘80s-early ‘90s), with a completely different music market. For us, now, the only ambition is to do the best music we can, and please our fans with it.

What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?

From classical music, passing through old school death and black metal, so I have to say that the music we listened to had a huge impact on us and the music we do.

What’s next for you?

Keeping up with music and release the best albums we can.
