ZEX – “Execute” – Metal punk from Canada

ZEX – “Execute”

Canadian punk metallers Zex classify “Execute” as a struggle in the making that represents the band in dark times. Their sound is a merge of influences within the realm of punk and metal, where the band tries to present the ideal sound if such band was to exist in the late 70s and early 80s, before the advent of hardcore punk and thrash metal.

Zex were formed in November 2013 with Gab Hole on bass, Gretchen Steel on vocals, Jo Capitalicide on guitar & Tasha Gobeil on drums (later to be replaced by Vassil Mester, RIP 2015 , then Cody Dorman followed by Eiji Miyazaki, Mark Useless and now Chris). Gab Hole left in 2017 to be replace be Andreas. Jo is the main song writer and has played in acclaimed bands such as Germ Attak, Blue Cross, Iron Dogs, Ice War, Aphrodite and countless others. Gretchen writes a sizable amount of the lyrics. After rehearsing for a few months and releasing 2 singles, Zex started playing live and almost immediately embarked on the first US tour. In about five years, Zex has played 160 concerts not only in native Canada, but also in the US, Mexico, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Brazil Japan & Turkey by doing their own booking. Zex has released 8 vinyl singles and three vinyl albums, most of which has seen numerous pressings by various record labels. CD, 8-Track and cassette versions of releases also exist. Zex has self produced 6 music videos.
