Interview: The Rest Of Us Is Dead

Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:

Phoenix is generally for the resurrection of the ashes. Everyone should realize that something new has been created here. With the entry of Martin at TROUID, the vocals and melody lines have changed completely. Texts were thrown over the pile and partly reinterpreted. It was rewritten, deleted complete vocal passages and added new elsewhere. The disc is practically the rebirth, from what was believed already lost.

Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?

We handle a wide range of influences, from A like ACCEPT to Z like ZZ TOP, over B like Black Label Society, or S like Stone Sour. But we have no special sound in mind. What you hear has grown and evolved over time. In our music, the spirit of metal and rock lives equally. We make the music we like!

How does your writing process normally work out?

We just try to write good songs. This is not really a strategy, or big TAM TAM, just a healthy amount of fun and total dedication to the product.
Our focus is entirely on our live shows. The songs have to work and make our fans and us happy. That’s exactly what it’s all about – making great music and having fun with it!

What’s next for you?

At the end of the year we want to start recording an album, that’s the plan. In addition, we want to increase our live presence, we have talked about a club tour, and there are applications for some festivals.
With the collaboration of our label 7Hard we publish in intervals still singles and videos.
The end of our ideas is far from over. We work practically daily on new lyrics, songs, riffs, the components are already there, we just have to put them together properly. The ship TROUID has just picked up speed this year.
