With ‘Legends’, Ukraine’s spiritualized stoner/doom metallers Ethereal Riffian make a turn to a more fierce, grunge-influenced style with plenty of hooks and catchy melodies. While you can still feel the ritualistic and mystical elements in the musical canvas of the album, the overall shift in sound is evident. On ‘Legends’ you can hear the reminiscence of Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Tool, Black Label Society, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Muse and High on Fire masterfully blended to sound fresh and unique while being carefully packed in traditional conceptualism inherent to the band’s music and ideology since its inception. Ethereal Riffian’s mission still remains in fostering spiritual and personal development and opening the subtler and deeper dimensions of existence. ‘Legends’ definitely succeeds in making their voice louder.
