Interview: Massive Destruktion
Tell us about your latest release: the main concept; what fans should expect; what were/are your goals with it:
The concept of Mercenaries on the album is meant to represent the new image that the band has, This concept about us not following any rules but our own. The songs talk about politics, war, death and how all this affected our way of life and civilizations. Our goal with this album is to be able to bring our music far away into other countries and be able to represent the metal music scene of Puerto Rico through this album.
Did you have a specific sound in mind when you formed the band, or did that grow and evolve as you played together?
We always had in mind create thrash metal music, but the different elements that some of the songs have those ideas they did came as we played along.
How does your writing process normally work out?
Normally we get together and bring different ideas, each one always have some different elements that help us make the songs. The singer most of the time write the lyrics, the guitar and bass players bring the rythms and melodies and the drummer ends up putting the final touches to complete the songs.
What are your ambitions and how far do you want to push your band?
As far away as we can. We’ve been working hard for years to be able to reach our goal with this band and with this album opportunitties are starting to rise, and we want to contiue working hard to reach our goal.
What are your influences/musical references and the impact those same influences had in your sound?
Our influences come from old school bands like Slayer, Sepultura, Coroner, Sodom, Kreator. Not only with thrash metal bands but also bands like Death, Opeth, Katatonia and manye others. Some of the bands have nothing to do with thrash metal but in some way they inspire us to create new ideas.
What’s next for you?
Continue working our next ideas for the band.
